With its aroma more powerful than that of green anise, Chinese star anise or star anise is the fruit of the Chinese star anise tree. It is picked from the tree when it is still green and takes on its final brown/red color after drying in the sun. Star anise is known to stimulate the appetite and aid digestion. It is used in spice blends (5 spices, curries, etc.), accompanies baked meats (lamb, pork), and is also used in desserts (baked fruit compote, fruit salads, creams). brulées, rice pudding, etc.).

Clarification: after being harvested, the star anise travels in burlap and this can break during transport. This does not affect its quality in any way, and we strive to provide sufficient “whole” star anise in the bag. Please note, however, that this may be useful for you to measure out in your dishes by taking a larger or smaller piece.
